~EFCC Opposes Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello’s bid to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Yahaya Bello, in his fresh application, is seeking to travel out of Nigeria for medical treatment amid his ongoing trial over an alleged ₦80.2billion money laundering scandal.

Yahaya Bello’s counsel, Joseph Daudu, SAN, had presented the application at a heated legal battle at the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, asking for permission for his client to travel overseas on health grounds. Daudu said his client had not left Nigeria in over eight years and was now in need of urgent attention.

“This is about releasing his passport which he surrendered as part of his bail conditions. The issue is not whether there are hospitals in Nigeria, but whether the defendant is a flight risk. He has no criminal record abroad and will return before the end of August. My Lord can even fix a return date....."


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) kicked against the fresh application. EFCC’s lead prosecutor, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, came down hard on the request:

"...And what are we talking about here? Low potassium? Mild hypertension? Those can be handled in any Nigerian hospital. If he needs potassium, let him eat banana and pawpaw..."

“From Abuja to Lokoja is two hours. He built a world-class hospital in Kogi. Let him use it instead of boarding a six-hour flight to the UK.”

Justice Emeka Nwite is expected to rule on the application at a later adjourned date.

EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu to reinstate Fubara — but with a condition he won’t seek re-election

President Bola Tinubu has agreed to reinstate Siminalayi Fubara as the governor of Rivers state — but with the condition that he will not seek reelection in 2027, TheCable can report.

The truce was reached during a closed-door meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa, where Tinubu hosted Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); Fubara; Martin Amaewhule, the suspended speaker of the Rivers assembly; and a handful of lawmakers.

Presidency sources say the deal, part of a broader effort to restore democratic order in Rivers, involves significant concessions.

According to insiders, one of the key terms is that @SimFubaraKSC will be reinstated to complete his four-year tenure but must forgo any plans to seek a second term in 2027 — a move that will limit his clout but to which he agreed.

A source said, as part of the conditions, Wike would be allowed to nominate all the local government chairpersons across the 23 LGAs of the state.

BREAKING: VeryDarkMan has staged a protest at the FCT Minister’s gate in Abuja over Teachers’ strike.

VDM, together with schoolchildren dressed in school uniforms and organised class where he taught the children letters of the alphabet.

Recall that for more than 9 weeks, children in Abuja, FCT, have been unable to attend school after their teachers went on strike over salary issues.

According to social advocate Verydarkman, the teachers are protesting being paid just ₦30,000 monthly—less than half of the ₦70,000 they were promised.
