*New British High Commissioner Josephine Gauld meets Leaders of SLPP Executive & Leaders of APC Executive*

The new British High Commissioner H.E. Josephine Gauld has met with the executive leadership of the governing Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) as well as with executive leadership of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC). This is according to her Twitter page whereon she yesterday November 13th 2024, posted group photos of her meeting with each set of leaders.

"Happy to meet with the Leadership of both the APC and the SLPP. Looking forward to working with both parties and other political players for the good of Mama Salone," the High Commissioner Gauld wrote.

In a separate earlier update, Gauld welcomed a British naval ship, the Lyme Bay, which arrived in Sierra Leone on November 11th 2024, as part of a tour of West African coastal nations.

Contrary to misleading online news reports that the ship was here for a long period to support ECOWAS military forces, the ship was berthed for only two days as part of a routine training and simulation exercises which it has been doing within various other African Nations' waters for many weeks now.

"Extending a warm welcome to RFA's Lyme Bay, as it arrives in Freetown to begin 2 days of engagement with RSLAF and local maritime security stakeholders," the High Commissioner penned down adding "Great to have this visit as part of a broader programme to enhance maritime security and regional stability, for the benefit of both our countries".
